Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Health Insurance Marketplace (Obamacare)?

It is the federal health insurance exchange created by the Affordable Care Act. Plans are sold through Healthcare.gov, and most Florida enrollees qualify for a subsidy that lowers the monthly premium.

Do you charge to enroll me in an ACA plan?

No. Enrollment help is free — insurance carriers compensate agents, so you never pay us a fee.

When can I enroll?

Open Enrollment normally runs November 1 through January 15 in Florida. Outside those dates you may qualify for a Special Enrollment Period after losing coverage, moving, marriage, or the birth of a child.

Which carriers do you work with?

We compare plans from Ambetter, Oscar, Molina, UnitedHealthcare, Cigna, Aetna, Humana and other Florida carriers to find your best fit.

Can you help in Spanish?

Yes — our agents are bilingual and can walk you through plan options and subsidies in Spanish.

Do I qualify for a subsidy, and how are my savings calculated?

Most Tampa households do. Marketplace subsidies (premium tax credits) are based on your estimated household income for the year and your family size. We run the numbers with you for free so you see the real monthly cost before you pick a plan.

What is a Special Enrollment Period and do I qualify?

A Special Enrollment Period lets you enroll outside Open Enrollment after a qualifying life event — losing job-based coverage, moving, marriage or divorce, having a baby, or a change in income. Most SEPs give you 60 days from the event to enroll.

What happens if I miss Open Enrollment?

Without a qualifying life event you generally have to wait for the next Open Enrollment. In the meantime we can check whether you or your children qualify for Medicaid, Florida KidCare, or a short-term option — those are available year-round.

Can I keep my doctor if I switch plans?

Often yes, but every plan has its own network. Bring a list of your doctors and prescriptions and we will check each plan's network and drug formulary before you enroll.

What documents do I need to enroll in a Marketplace plan?

Photo ID, Social Security numbers for everyone on the application, proof of income such as recent pay stubs or a tax return, immigration documents if applicable, and details of any coverage offered by your employer.
